As you may have noticed, there haven't been any new posts in a while. I've been busy updating the entire website and all the galleries to put my most recent work online!! It's just about finished, so stay tuned for a completely new website in the next day or two! (Along with a new blog format.)

I was at Mountain View Convservation Centre this weekend and I had the pleasure of seeing some very cool animals. They breed endangered species with the goal of eventually releasing them back to the wild.
It's a great place to go see the animals. But it's definitely not geared for photographers! (And why would it be?)
Try to take a photo through a fence when your lens doesn't even fit through it, let alone your camera! (Score one for the point-and-shoots out there.)
As if the fences weren't enough of a challenge... imagine you're with a tour of 25 chatty people, being pulled on a trolly by a loud tractor, and for the most part you have to take photos from where you are sitting. (Ok, they did stop occasionally so we could get off!) Add to that, most of the animals keep their distance once the people arrive... Not exactly the recipe for a good photograph. All things considered, I think getting a few keepers was pretty good.
I just loved the Zebra!

I wanted to say congratulations to the newest two couples I've photographed... Amber & Vince and Sandra & Gugu! Both very unique and beautiful weddings. I'll post a few highlights here in the next couple of days.
In other news, I will be doing a website update in the next few months (before the busy wedding season!) which will include a bunch of photos not previously posted. The redesign is going to feature about 4 or 5 weddings so future brides can see photos from a whole wedding, rather than just a few highlights from many different weddings. I hope this change will allow people to gain a better insight into Mayan Photography's style and quality of work from start to finish. I'll keep you posted!

As promised, here are a few new photos to browse... What a beautiful wedding (even though it was the coldest wedding I've ever been to!)

Then we were off to brave the minus 16 degree weather for some photos!
And as soon as we were done, everyone ran for the jackets! I don't blame them... I was freezing too, and I got to keep my coat on the whole time. :)

Merry Christmas everyone! I know some of you are waiting to see my photos from Mexico, but I got a little busy with Christmas and a wedding. (Congratulations Amber and Eric!!) I'd estimate that by the end of next week I'll have both the wedding photos and Mexico photos posted. :)

Well I'm back from sunny Mexico! It really did feel like summer for the most part. It rained a tad, but nothing like Vancouver rain... it was more of a sprinkle.
Overall was relatively warm and sunny considering it's December.
Stay tuned for a slideshow of Mexico... coming in the next week or so.

Hello everyone... Mayan Photography is on vacation.
I will have limited internet access during the next 2 weeks as I will be in Mexico!! While I'm there I will be shooting for an upcoming exhibition. Will post photos when I return... be back on Dec 8th :)
Last time I was in Mexico, I only had my point and shoot (and film camera of course)... the only digital images I have are a little old school being that it was so many years ago. I can hardly wait to be able to take some more photo of this unique and intriguing place! Here's a photo from my little point and shoot... notice the lizard? (photos taken in Tulum)

Well summer is finally over (sigh) and so is the busy wedding season. We did get some nice September weather though, didn't we? Time for me to catch up on the website, update some pages and add some new photos for you all to see! My sister will appreciate this too as I will finally get to posting her bridal shower photos from... well... let's just say "a long time ago". Keep an eye over the next week or two as I am going to be adding some pages and lots of photos from this summer :)

Busy wedding season is here so I"m not sure how often I'll be updating this page over the next few weeks, but here are a few of my favorite photos from the three weddings I mentioned in the last post.

To my little sis... great find!! - Jimmy is an awesome catch :) You two will be happy together. And I know it was cold that day, but the clouds created great soft lighting for the photos!

Stay tuned - Photos from three weddings will be posted soon! Between today and May 29th, I have three weddings booked, so I'll definitely be posting a bunch of new wedding photos in early June.
I went on a walk to Mill Lake Park yesterday and swapped lenses with a friend - I got some cool shots! What a great lens to play with :) Here are some close ups of some simple everyday things like dandelions, ladybugs and ducklings... but they make great subjects, and I have fun photographing nature!

PRICING UPDATE: New pricing is in effect...(album rates have gone down with my supplier, so I've lowered my price too!) If you have recently downloaded the price sheet please note that you may need to download it again or refresh your browser on the pricing page. There are a few other small changes too.. most items have gone slightly down in price, but some of the lower priced items have gone up a bit.
If you have booked your wedding or event before the price change, you may elect to purchase your prints and albums at the new rate if you prefer - it will be cheaper!

After rebooking a few times due to weather (too much snow!) and nearly canceling last week too, the rain finally held up for the engagement session last week. Corrine and Sean, it was tons of fun at Elgin park with you! Hope you enjoy the photos!
