Misconception #1: If I hire a good photographer, I'll get good photos.

Reality check: There are a lot of bad photographers with good portfolios, so you don't always know if who you're hiring is ACTUALLY good, or just managed to scrape together a good portfolio with the best couple of shots from each wedding. Please remember, pretty much any photographer can take a few great photos over the course of a whole wedding, and those are the photos that end up in portfolios. It's easy to be mislead if you don't know what to look for.

Misconception #2: If I plan a beautiful wedding, it will also look beautiful in photos

Reality check: Many common situations at weddings are VERY hard to photograph. Some examples: Low or candlit lighting, large windows, dance floor strobes, ceremony arrangements, tall reception centerpieces... Even great photographers will struggle to get decent photos under these curcumstances. This is why every bride needs to know how to make her own wedding easy to photograph.
