México en Diciembre

On a trip to Mexico last December, I documented some of the things I saw. Though beautiful, this is not what we usually see as typcial photos from Mexico. It's not a "tourist destination" per se, being several hours from an international airport. There were no white sandy beaches or big American hotels here either... it is a place where you can truly experience the way of life in the state of Veracruz.

Most of the towns I visited had small populations of under 5000 people. El Chico, where I stayed primarily, had about 2000 people. The nearest large city is Xalapa. Xalapa is located in eastern-central Mexico, among in the mountains. It is about 2 hours (driving) from the ocean, and about 5 hours from Mexico City.
