The Mayan Ruins of Palenque are set in the foothills of the Tumbalá mountains of Chiapas Mexico. The photos belowe were taken on a December morning in 2009. The photos of the city displayed afterward were taken in San Cristóbal de las Casas.

Location information:
- The Mayan ruins shown above are at Palenque. There is also a town called Palenque, which is a good place to stay and take a day trip from to viist the ruins site.
- San Cristóbal is
the third largest city in the Mexican state of Chiapas (approx. 200,000 inhabitants). It is only a few hours drive from Guatemala. It is full of colorful buildings and rich in indigenous culture and history.
